The Tennessee Vols dropped a video on Wednesday that relives one of the most underrated moments of the 2022 season.
Tennessee's win against Kentucky in late October to move to 8-0 was the peak of the Vols' season.
After Tennessee's dominating 44-6 win over the Wildcats, the idea of the Vols reaching the College Football Playoff suddenly didn't feel far-fetched. In fact, at the time, it felt inevitable (UT, after all, was ranked No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings after the win against UK).
Tennessee was riding high, scoring lots of points, and the defense was starting to play better.
Unfortunately for the UT, they ran into a buzzsaw the next week in Athens.
But for that one Saturday night in October, the Vols were the kings of college football.
And what made that win even better was all of the trash talk that came from Kentucky before the game.
Wildcats quarterback Will Levis famously suggested that Tennessee didn't play "real football" the week before playing the Vols.
Tennessee kept the receipts and made sure to reference "real football" after the win.
The video that Tennessee dropped on Wednesday showed some highlights from the win against the Wildcats and included the phrase "real physical football".
Defensive back Jaylen McCollough is featured at the beginning of the video saying "I thought they said we didn't play football over here" before the clip launches into highlights of the Vols' big win.
We spoke to Tennessee wide receiver Grant Frerking earlier this year on the Big Orange Podcast and he told us that the "real football" comments definitely made their way around the Vols' locker room before the Kentucky game.
This video essentially confirms that.
