Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Jerome Carvin said goodbye to Rocky Top on Monday with a heartfelt message on social media.

"As I reflect back on my five years as a Volunteer, it's been an incredible ride with memories that will last a lifetime," wrote Carvin on Monday. "I thank God for the opportunity to play this game and guide me. To Vol Nation, you were always there for me and our team. Celebrating with you on the field after the Alabama game is something I will remember for the rest of my life. From Vol Walk to Running Through the T, gamedays in Neyland are unmatched."

"Thank you to Coach Heupel and Coach Elarbee for helping elevate our program and believing in us. Thanks to Coach Pruitt and his staff for giving me the opportunity to play at Tennessee. To my teammates, we are brothers for life. We have been through so much. This season has been so much fun and to see our hard work pay off and celebrate an 11-win season with an Orange Bowl win is rewarding."

"I now begin the next chapter of my life preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft and can't wait for the future. I am proud to be a VFL and Rocky Top will always be "home sweet home" to me."

Carvin was a fifth-year senior this past season. He was able to play one more season at Tennessee thanks to the extra year of eligibility the NCAA provided student-athletes in response to the abbreviated COVID-19-impacted 2020 season.

The Memphis native played in 59 career games for the Vols with 42 starts. That includes 20 starts at left guard, 17 starts at right guard, and five at center. According to UTSports.com, Carvin didn't allow a sack in 2021.

Carvin has enough SEC starting experience and versatility that he shouldn't have any problem carving out a role in the NFL.
