Before the start of the 2023 college football season, former Florida Gators/Mississippi State Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen revealed his preseason top 25 rankings.

Mullen placed the Tennessee Vols at No. 14 in his preseason rankings, which unsurprisingly led to the former Florida head coach catching some heat from UT fans.

Fortunately for Mullen's Twitter mentions, he came to his senses this week as he's elevated Tennessee all the way to No. 6 in his post-Week One top 25 rankings.

Mullen completely dropped LSU from his top 25. He also has Colorado which knocked off TCU, at No. 15. And he has Duke at No. 23 after their big win against the Clemson Tigers on Monday night.

When it comes to his ranking of Tennessee, I'm sure there will be plenty of opposing fans who think the Vols are ranked too high. And maybe that will prove to be true (there's a lot of season still to be played), but what's the argument against Tennessee being ranked that high? I'm not sure there's one that makes sense (UT isn't the only team in the top 10 breaking in a new quarterback, by the way). So until the Vols show otherwise, they're just as worthy of being ranked in the top 6 as Alabama, one of the other programs that's turning to a new quarterback this season.
