Earlier this offseason, linebacker Juwan Mitchell, who played for the Tennessee Vols from 2021 to 2022, transferred to Arizona State.
The former three-star recruit didn't last long with the Sun Devils as he was kicked off the team after just one week of camp.
247Sports' Chris Karpman reported at the time that Mitchell wasn't a good "culture fit" at Arizona State.
Earlier this month, Karpman joined "Roc and Manuch" to discuss Mitchell''s departure from Arizona State and he went into more detail about what happened with the former Vol.
"There were several incidents that happened in the last couple of weeks related to tardiness or attitude issues with Mitchell that have been discussed with him on multiple occasions," explained Karpman. "Then there was an incident at Saturday's practice. He left prematurely before the end of practice. The congregation basically was like hey look, we've already expressed that this is our standard — this is what we're going to hold everyone to. Just because you happen to have been a starting linebacker at Tennessee and at Texas was the top tackler prior to that, it doesn't mean that you get covered by a different standard. If we let you get away with a different standard, what does that say to everybody else as we're trying to establish our culture?"
Mitchell originally played at Texas (where he led the Longhorns in tackles one season) before landing with the Vols ahead of the 2021 season.
Last season, Mitchell was part of one of Tennessee's more memorable plays of the year.
In the Vols' win against Kentucky last season, defensive back Doneiko Slaughter laid a massive hit on a Wildcats receiver which jarred the ball loose. Mitchell was in the right place at the right time and he came down with the interception and returned it 48 yards, sending Neyland Stadium into a frenzy.
Mitchell landed with Colorado earlier this week after his dismissal from Arizona State, meaning he'll be joining his fifth program since high school (Butler Community College, Texas, Tennessee, Arizona State, Colorado).
