A 2024 Tennessee Vols commit suffered an injury on Friday night thanks to some (future) Vol on Vol crime.

2024 four-star tight end Jonathan Echols, who plays for IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, suffered a rib injury on Friday night after taking a hit from Lipscomb Academy linebacker Edwin Spillman.

Spillman, who is from Nashville, is a four-star linebacker who is also committed to Tennessee.

Here's the hit that rocked Echols.

Echols spoke with GoVols247 after the game on Friday and he was still in obvious pain. He was planning to go for X-Rays to determine the extent of the injury.

According to GoVols247, Echols returned to the game at times on Friday night, despite the injury to his ribs (rib injuries are typically incredibly tough to play through).

(Echols provided some exclusive quotes on his injury to GoVols247 which you can check out here.)

It doesn't sound like the injury will impact Echols longterm, but it's still an unfortunate injury for the high school senior. And it's even more unfortunate (though it was happenstance and nothing nefarious) that it came at the hands of a future teammate.

But hey, at least Vols fans know they're getting a ridiculously tough player in Echols and a hard hitter in Spillman.
