The Tennessee Vols added several important players from the NCAA transfer portal this offseason that are expected to contribute in a big way this fall.

A few of those transfers players quickly developed a tight bond, leading three of them to spend their midnight hours during the offseason working out together at Tennessee's practice facilities.

Vols wide receiver Dont'e Thornton, a transfer from Oregon who joined the program earlier this season, joined Straight Up Tennessee ahead of UT's season opener against Virginia.

Thornton discussed a variety of topics, including his midnight workout sessions with fellow newcomers John Campbell (an offensive lineman from Miami) and Omarr Norman-Lott (a defensive lineman from Arizona State).

"In the spring, I used to go in the facility at 12 AM, 1 o'clock in the morning and I'd be in there on the jug machine catching and stuff," said Thornton. "Me and big John (Campbell), Omarr, we'd be in there working out in the middle of the night. It's unlocked so we can easily go in there."

It's clear that everyone on Tennessee's roster has put in a ton of work this offseason — including all of the newcomers. But it's still always interesting to hear about a group of college athletes who care about the game so much that they're willing to work out in the middle of the night to get better.

That's a huge sign of a winning program and a great culture, something that Tennessee undoubtedly has right now.
