One of the Tennessee Vols' top remaining 2023 recruiting targets is four-star linebacker Arion Carter.
Carter, 6-foot-1/210 lbs from Smyrna, TN, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 13 linebacker in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee.
On Tuesday, Carter revealed that he's planning to announce his commitment on Wednesday (December 14) at noon. He'll be choosing between Alabama, Tennessee, and Ohio State.
Ohio State is a finalist for Carter, but this is expected to be a Tennessee/Alabama battle.
And the fact that he's announcing on Wednesday is good news for the Vols.
That's because Carter is supposed to visit with Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding on Thursday. If he's committing on Wednesday, it would seem to indicate that his mind is made up and that meeting with Golding on Thursday isn't a key factor in his decision.
That bodes well for Tennessee since Vols head coach Josh Heupel was just recently in town to visit Carter.
In fact, Heupel spent quite a bit of time at Carter's school this week.
Recruiting is fluid and things can change quickly, but this battle seems to be trending in the Vols' direction.
