The Tennessee Vols were undoubtedly a little disappointed on Tuesday night to see that they fell to No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings after their 27-13 loss to Georgia.
TCU, who was behind a one-loss Alabama team last week, was ranked above the Vols in this week's rankings.
Despite the questionable ranking (which is important because it tells Tennessee they'll need some help to make the playoff), the night wasn't a total waste for the Vols.
That's because Tennessee received a commitment from 2023 three-star offensive lineman Vysen Lang.
Lang, 6-foot-4/335 lbs from Pike Road, AL, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 48 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 26 player in the state of Alabama.
"It was one of my best visits I’ve had at any school," said Lang to Rivals of his commitment to UT. "The fan base at Tennessee, they have the craziest, nicest fans in the world. During the games, they’re all crazy and hyped and outside the game they’re all coming up to me and saying, ‘Hi, welcome to Knoxville,’ and being really nice."
Tennessee now has 22 players committed to its 2023 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 11 in the nation and No. 5 in the SEC.
