The Tennessee Vols got a step closer to completing their 2024 roster while making a big addition to their wide receiver room.
Tulane transfer wide receiver Chris Brazzell committed to the Vols on Thursday evening.
Brazzell, a redshirt freshman in 2023, is coming off a big season for Tulane, catching 44 passes for 711 yards and five touchdowns in his first full season on the field.
The 6-foot-5/195 lb wide receiver was a three-star recruit coming out of Midland Legacy in Texas. Brazzell's father, Chris, played for the Dallas Cowboys in 1999/2000.
Brazzell will instantly compete for a starting spot this fall, though Vols fans saw this season with Dont'e Thornton's development that it can take a wide receiver several games to get comfortable in Josh Heupel's offense.
Thornton, along with Squirrel White, Kaleb Webb, Nathan Leacock, and Chas Nimrod are expected to be in competition with Brazzell (and with each other) for the top three wide receiver spots on the roster.
Bru McCoy could also choose to return for another season.
The Vols have some nice depth at wide receiver — especially if McCoy returns — and that's important because we saw this season that wide receiver depth can quickly erode.
