Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, a player who has quickly developed into one of the top players in the AFC North, showed some love to Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker this week.

Higgins responded to a tweet from former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson, who played for the Bengals for 10 seasons, about which LSU player to watch in the Tennessee/LSU game on Saturday.

Instead of answering with an LSU player, Higgins told Johnson to watch Hooker.

Higgins is a Knoxville area native (Oak Ridge) who was recruited by the Vols.

But instead of signing with Tennessee, Higgins, then a five-star recruit, signed with the Clemson Tigers in early 2017.

It was an understandable move at the time. The Vols were coached by Butch Jones and they were coming off a disappointing end to the 2016 season that saw the team blow a chance at the Sugar Bowl.

Higgins, who was actually committed to Tennessee for a few months in late 2015/early 2016, elected to go the safe route by going to Clemson.

And it was the right choice. Higgins won a national championship at Clemson and he was the No. 33 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. I'd say things worked out alright for him.

But despite the fact that Higgins eschewed Tennessee for Clemson, it's clear he still has some love for his hometown Vols.
