Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Josh Palmer made a huge catch on Sunday in the Los Angeles Chargers' 24-17 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. And as a result, he received a game ball from head coach Brandon Staley.
With the Chargers clinging to a seven point lead with just under two minutes remaining in the game, Palmer caught a 51-yard pass on third down from Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert that clinched the win for Los Angeles.
The catch from Palmer allowed the Chargers to take a knee for the final few plays of the game, preventing the Raiders from getting a final shot at tying the game.
After the game, Staley, who coincidentally was a graduate assistant at Tennessee in 2012, gave Palmer the first of three game balls.
Palmer, who played at Tennessee from 2017 to 2020, led the Chargers in receiving in the win against the Raiders with 3 receptions for 77 yards.
