Tennessee Vols wide receiver Deangelo Gibbs has entered the NCAA transfer portal according to multiple reports.

The former four-star recruit is a graduate transfer, which means he'll be eligible to play immediately.

Gibbs, who was rated as the No. 49 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class, originally arrived at Tennessee in 2019 after spending the first two years of his career with the Georgia Bulldogs.

At Georgia, Gibbs played on the defensive side of the ball as a safety. He totaled 10 tackles during his time in Athens.

The Georgia native sat out the 2019 season at Tennessee due to transfer rules.

Some Vols fans might be surprised to learn that Gibbs was still with the team. Gibbs didn't play in 2020, instead choosing to focus on academics.

Gibbs didn't play in 2021, either (he wasn't listed on the Vols' roster last spring).

This obviously isn't a major loss for the Vols. In fact, if Gibbs was taking up a scholarship spot, then this is a positive for Tennessee football. It will give the Vols some more room to make transfer additions if needed.
