Tennessee Vols running back Jaylen Wright had UT fans worried this week after he sent a cryptic tweet on Monday that led some folks to believe that he was considering entering the NCAA transfer portal.
When Wright sent that tweet, we noted that it was unclear if it was related to football or something in his personal life.
A few days later and we're confident in saying that the tweet is what it appeared to be — Wright mulling a transfer decision.
The good news for the Vols, though, is that it appears that Tennessee's NIL collective came through and Wright is staying in Knoxville.
The Volunteer Club put out a tweet on Thursday that says they've signed Wright to a new NIL deal for 2023.
Wright was a key player for the Vols in 2022 as he led the team in rushing yards. The Durham, NC native proved in 2022 that he's not just fast, but he can also be extremely physical.
Fans may not love this new NIL-influenced world of college football, but that's the reality of the sport these days. NIL isn't going anywhere, so fans might as well get comfortable with it.
