The Tennessee Vols received some unfortunate news on Sunday.

Rumors started swirling earlier on Sunday that running back Lyn-J Dixon, a former Clemson Tigers running back who transferred to Tennessee earlier this summer, had left the Vols' football program.

VolQuest's Austin Price confirmed the rumors on Sunday evening, though he didn't give a reason for Dixon's departure.

Price noted that Tennessee opted against bringing Dixon into the program last fall (after a visit). The Vols changed their mind this summer after losing Len'Neth Whitehead to an injury.

With Dixon no longer in the picture, it once again leaves Tennessee with questionable running back depth.

The Vols will lean on Jabari Small as their primary running back in 2022. Jaylen Wright, Dylan Sampson, and Justin Williams-Thomas round out Tennessee's depth. If everyone stays healthy, the Vols should be fine. But if the injuries stack up, things could quickly get hairy for Tennessee.

I don't think there's any major reason to be concerned about the loss of Dixon, but it's certainly a situation to keep an eye on this season.
