One of the Tennessee Vols' SEC East rivals made a big move on Tuesday.

On3 reported on Tuesday that QB Devin Leary is transferring from NC State to Kentucky.

The Wildcats were in need of a quarterback after losing Will Levis to the 2023 NFL Draft (Levis had one year of eligibility remaining, but the expectation was always that he would declare for the draft).

Leary only played in six games in 2022 due to injury. He passed for 1,265 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions in those six games.

In 2021, Leary passed for  3,433 yards and 35 touchdowns. The 3,433 yards broke Philip Rivers' single-season record at NC State for passing yards.

Kentucky fired offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello after one lackluster season in Lexington. The Wildcats are expected to bring Liam Coen back in 2023. Coen is currently serving as the Los Angeles Rams' offensive coordinator after working as UK's offensive coordinator in 2021.

Coen hasn't fared well in Los Angeles this season, which suggests that his departure from the Rams after the season will be a mutual decision. Kentucky's offense was at its best under Coen, which is why I think pairing Leary with Coen will make the Wildcats a much better team in 2023 than they were in 2022.
