Tennessee Vols tight end Jacob Warren appeared on "Off the Hook Sports" this week with Dave Hooker and he revealed the timeline for his NFL decision.

Warren, who signed with the Vols during the 2018 recruiting cycle, has one year of eligibility remaining due to the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season.

The Knoxville native hasn't made a decision yet on returning to Tennessee for his final season of eligibility. Warren told Hooker that his decision should come in the next week.

"I think next week or so, I will feel comfortable with whatever decision I make," said Warren. "It's truly back and forth right now."

"The NFL is something I've wanted to do since I was a little kid," added Warren. "With that opportunity in front of me, it's pretty cool just to think about that being a possibility. But at the same time, I want to make sure I'm making the best decision for myself and my future family."

Warren acknowledged that NIL opportunities could play a part in his decision, but he noted that NIL money "doesn't compare" to NFL money.

Tennessee could certainly use Warren in 2023. The Vols added UC-Davis transfer tight end McCallan Castles last month, but their depth at tight end is still taking a hit with Princeton Fant out of eligibility and Miles Campbell hitting the transfer portal.

Warren finished the 2022 season with 12 receptions for 163 yards. His contributions didn't always show in the box score, but Warren was an important player for Tennessee this season.

Against Clemson, for example, Warren's route helped create room for Joe Milton's touchdown pass to Bru McCoy for the first score of the game.

Warren knows Heupel's offense well. Getting him back in 2023 would help the tight end room's development and give Tennessee a veteran they can count on.
