All eyes were on Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton on Friday night in the Orange Bowl.
The storyline all week centered on Milton and how he would perform as the starter against Clemson.
Milton is expected to be Tennessee's starter in 2023, but there have been plenty of questions about his consistency.
On Friday night, he erased a lot of those questions by leading the Vols to a 31-14 win against Clemson.
Milton passed for 251 yards and three touchdowns on 19 of 28 passing. He's now thrown 144 passes at Tennessee without throwing an interception.
After the game, Milton was asked what kind of statement he felt this game made for the Vols.
"The Vols are back on top," answered a confident Milton.
The Vols have a little ways to go before they're truly back on top — only one team will finish the 2022 season as national champions — but it's clear that Tennessee is back in the national conversation. And as Josh Heupel said several times on Friday night, this is only the start for the Vols.
