Ryan Tannehill has been one of the most criticized players in this NFL offseason. After throwing three interceptions in the Tennessee Titans’ divisional round loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the narrative surrounding Tannehill changed for the worse. BetMGM has released its regular season player props for 2022, and while the market is clearly down on Tannehill, sports bettors can find value in buying low on the Titans’ signal caller.

BetMGM currently lists Tannehill’s total passing yards at 3,699.5 (-115) for the 2022 season. The only quarterbacks with lower totals are Lamar Jackson, Davis Mills, Jalen Hurts, and Justin Fields. The sportsbook even has New York Giants QB Daniel Jones tied with Tannehill.

For the over to cash, Tannehill would need to average 217.6 passing yards per game, which he has done in each of his three years with the Titans. Last season was Tannehill’s worst in two-tone blue, but he still managed to throw for 3,734 yards, working with a cast of misfits at the receiver position.

Oddsmakers are implying that the departures of A.J. Brown and Julio Jones will have a significant impact on the Titans’ QB. However, Brown and Jones missed 11 games combined in 2021.

Sure, Tannehill will have a new corps of receivers to throw to this season in Robert Woods, Treylon Burks, and Kyle Philips, but the upgrades at the tight end position are being severely undervalued. The Titans added TE Austin Hooper in free agency, who is already building a rapport with Tannehill.

After parting ways with TE Jonnu Smith last offseason, Tannehill suffered without a security blanket to throw to underneath. Hooper serves to fill that void alongside playmaking rookie Chig Okonkwo.

Running back Derrick Henry’s absence also played a role in the Titans’ passing game woes. Henry is not much of a receiving threat out of the backfield, but his presence alone is something defensive coordinators must account for.

In Henry’s eight games in 2021, Tannehill averaged 250.2 passing yards per game. That is compared to his average of 192.4 passing yards in games without Henry. There is no question that things open up for Tannehill and his receivers while defenses stack the box in order to contain King Henry.

The football world continues to doubt Tannehill and his ability to lead the Titans on a deep playoff run. While those criticisms are fair, Tannehill has been one of the league’s best regular season quarterbacks over the last three years. BetMGM has given bettors an edge with a weak line, allowing a wonderful buy-low spot on a guy with everything to prove in the upcoming season.
