NASHVILLE — As first reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms on a three-year contract with free agent cornerback Chidobe Awuzie.

Awuzie, 28, spent the last three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. Titans head coach Brian Callahan, while an offensive coach, knows him well.

Over a seven-year NFL career, Awuzie started 74 games. He has six career interceptions, four forced fumbles, and 369 tackles.

Former Titans cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting already got a big deal from the Arizona Cardinals. Kristian Fulton is a free agent and is unlikely to return to Tennessee.

So the Titans desperately need to add talent in the secondary, and Awuzie is one of the top names still on the market. He is a capable perimeter cornerback that compliments Roger McCreary.

According to PFF, Awuzie allowed 488 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns in 15 games on the 2023 season. For reference, Fulton allowed 577 receiving yards last season for the Titans while playing 58 less coverage snaps.

I'd still expect the Titans address cornerback in the 2024 NFL Draft and probably sign a free agent safety. But Awuzie is a good get for the defense.
