The Titans have not hidden their desire to upgrade the QB position this offseason.

The Titans have been attached to Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson and have met with almost all of the top QB prospects. Now a new QB has come into play. This morning, Ian Rappoport reported that the 49ers have been taking trade calls for former No. 3 pick Trey Lance.

Before the 2021 draft, the 49ers traded up to pick three and drafted Trey Lance as their QB of the future. However, Lance has yet to have a chance to consistently prove himself since being drafted. In his rookie year, Lance played sparingly and primarily backed up Jimmy Garoppolo. Lance threw for 603 yards and six touchdowns in just two starts and six games.

Going into last season, the 49ers decided Lance would be QB1. He came into the season with high expectations and seemed poised to break out. After a rocky first game, Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury in week 2. The 49ers went on to make the NFC championship game, and QB Brock Purdy emerged as a legitimate NFL QB.

Due to these events, it looks like there is a possibility the 49ers will move on from Lance after just two years. After this morning's report by Rappoport, odds came out on where Lance could land. The current favorite is the Tennessee Titans at +300. With the Titans sitting out of range for the top QBs in this draft class, trading a day two pick for Lance could make a lot of sense.

He still has incredibly high upside and has yet to be given an opportunity to prove himself. If he is unable to stay healthy or turns out to be a bust, the Titans can get out of his contract by 2025. This would allow the Titans to pick a position of need, like offensive linemen or wide receiver, with pick 11 and then get their QB using just a second or third-round pick.

With the draft quickly approaching, Lance is starting to look like a great option for the Titans.
