NASHVILLE — After a change to the NFL's gambling policy, the Tennessee Titans are getting a major gift when it comes to suspended right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere.
The NFL and NFLPA came to an agreement on Friday to have increased punishments for players that placed bets on NFL games. As part of the agreement, the league is lessening the previously established punishment for players who placed wagers while at team facilities.
Nicholas Petit-Frere falls into the second of those two groups and will now be eligible to return from his suspension next week against the Indianapolis Colts.
Petit-Frere is going to be reinstated on Monday and will give the Titans some much needed reinforcements on the offensive line.
With the way left tackle Andre Dillard has struggled to open the season, Tennessee could use Petit-Frere's return as an opportunity to reshuffle the deck up front. Chris Hubbard has done a nice job holding things down at right tackle with NPF out, but one of them could go to left tackle if things continue to spiral for Dillard
It's not every day the NFL agrees to a midseason policy change, but this time around, it could be the life raft Tennessee desperately needs.
Titans, Mike Vrabel could make roster move to solve major issue
It might need to be done.
