According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, the Tennessee Titans are staying active in the free agent market, bringing in a new batch of free agents for a workout with the team.
Wilson reported on Wednesday that the Titans held a try out for LB Jeremiah Attaochu, DE Gerri Green, DB Harrison Hand, and DB Jovante Moffatt.
Hand and Moffatt are both second-year defensive backs that failed to make their respective teams at this years' cut day. Green has never played in an NFL game despite being drafted in 2019, but Attaochu is an interesting veteran name to keep an eye on.
The 29-year-old outside linebacker has played in 79 career NFL games over eight seasons with the Chargers, Jets, Broncos, and Bears.
Back in 2015, Attaochu recorded 55 tackles and six sacks for the Chargers, but has since battled with injuries that have limited his snaps throughout his career. Attaochu had five sacks for Denver in 2020.
After tearing his pectoral last season, Attaochu was cut by the Bears in the middle of June to clear up some cap space. Now, with news of Harold Landry's torn ACL, the Titans are in need of help on the edge.
The Titans claimed OLB Derek Tuszka off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers following roster cuts and activated him for week one against the Giants.
Even with Tuszka on the team, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Jon Robinson and the Titans are doing their due diligence with the free agents available that fill needs.
When fully healthy, Attaochu can be an impactful presence off the edge with more veteran experience than you can usually find in the free agent pool. A work out to gauge where he is at with his health and recovery makes a lot of sense.
Any signing would probably be to bring someone onto the practice squad (which is exactly what the Titans did with WR Josh Gordon), but it's clear the Titans are still spinning the wheels on how to add depth to the thinner defensive position groups.
