According to a report from Paul Kuharsky, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kyle Philips is expected to miss "in the range of six weeks" with an MCL injury suffered in Minnesota.

Philips was removed from the Titans' preseason game with the Minnesota Vikings in the first quarter on Saturday night after returning a punt.

The Titans are already without wide receiver Treylon Burks, who sprained his LCL during joint practices last week. It now looks like they will be without Philips for the beginning of the regular season as well (there is still a chance for Burks to play Week 1).

The injury is not just a big blow for the team, but for Philips as an individual. The second-year wide receiver out of UCLA made it a priority to gain weight this offseason with hopes of being more durable and having improved play strength. All returns on that process had been good throughout training camp.

Titans' starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill will still have five-time Pro-Bowler DeAndre Hopkins to throw to, but there is no doubt that Chris Moore, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and others will need to step up in Philips' absence.

Perhaps the most interesting question is who will get an opportunity on the 53-man roster now. Kearis Jackson and Colton Dowell, two candidates to win the job, are also working through some injuries at the moment.
