Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel informed the media after practice on Monday that defensive line coach Terrell Williams will be the acting head coach for this weekend's preseason game in Chicago.

Williams, who is in his sixth season on staff with the Titans, was given the title of assistant head coach this offseason. Over the years, Williams has done a tremendous job of developing players and communicating with the entire roster. Defensive assistant Clinton McMillan will handle the defensive line for the game.

Vrabel will still be at the game and assisting where needed, but he wanted to give Williams the opportunity to make game decisions and get experience. Williams will get some valuable exposure as a future head coach candidate around the league.

"I've worked hard just like the rest of the coaches and for [Vrabel] to recognize that was great," said Williams about his title of assistant head coach earlier this offseason. "The truth is, whether you get a title or not, you still do your job. Nothing has really changed for me. I'm still the defensive line coach and I try to talk to all the players and help all of them."

During his time in Nashville, Williams has helped players like Jeffery Simmons, Jurrell Casey, DeMarcus Walker, and Teair Tart have extremely successful Titans careers. He is long overdue for consideration as a head coach somewhere around the NFL, and Saturday could very well be the next step towards getting there.
