Over the last couple of weeks, there have been trade rumors surrounding Tennessee Titans wide receiver AJ Brown that were essentially manufactured.
The "rumors" started with a suggestion from ESPN New York Jets beat reporter Rich Cimini, who wrote that the Jets were keeping an eye on Brown's situation with the Titans.
Brown's "situation" is that he's entering the final season of his rookie contract, meaning he's about to get a big extension from Tennessee.
Cimini was seemingly suggesting that the Titans could look to trade Brown (like the Green Bay Packers did with Davante Adams and like the Kansas City Chiefs did with Tyreek Hill) instead of paying him.
Titans general manager Jon Robinson, however, made it clear during the NFL owners meetings last month that Tennessee plans to keep Brown in Nashville.
On Thursday, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel commented on the rumors during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. And he also made it clear that Brown isn't going anywhere.
Eisen asked Vrabel if Brown was on the trade block, to which Vrabel responded "not as long as I'm the head coach".
The final decision obviously lies with Robinson, but he and Vrabel are usually on the same page and I'm sure this situation is no different.
I'm not sure there's ever been a bigger "nothing" story surrounding the Titans.
Tennessee has proven over the last several years that they extend players who perform at a high level. I'm not sure why anyone thinks it will be any different with Brown.
