NASHVILLE — With Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks (knee) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, local product Colton Dowell could be due for an opportunity.

Dowell attended Wilson Central High School and played his college ball at UT Martin before landing with the hometown Titans in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Dowell did enough to crack the Titans' 53-man roster after cut day, but has been inactive for each of Tennessee's first three games.

With Burks out and Kyle Philips on IR, Dowell is one of five wide receivers on the active roster. One of those is Mason Kinsey, who will work more as a punt returner than wide receiver.

Of the five receivers on the roster, Dowell is the most similar receiver to Burks in both size and style. Sunday against the Bengals would be the perfect time for Dowell to make his NFL debut.

"It would mean the world to me. It’s something I’ve worked for my whole life, and finally seeing that dream come to fruition would be awesome," said Dowell on Friday about potentially being active on game day.

During three games as a healthy scratch, Dowell has been able to sit back and learn from the veteran wide receivers on game days. Dowell said on Friday that he has learned how to conduct himself during a game.

"I see how different players stay loose and how they prepare, drive after drive, just seeing how they’re locked in, but at the same time, they’re kind of calm and ready for that next play," said Dowell.

The Titans host the Bengals at 12 p.m. CST at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. Dowell is expecting to have 14 friends and family members in attendance. Inactives will be announced by the team around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
