Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Teair Tart signed his second-round tender for $4.3 million on Monday, officially securing his place and salary with the Titans for the 2023 season just before mandatory minicamp gets underway.

Tart had previously signed an injury waiver, and was both present for and participating in Titans voluntary OTAs over the last few weeks.

Tart was signed by the Titans in 2020 as an undrafted free agent, and has since played in 34 regular season games with 27 starts. The former FIU Panther has excelled as a run stopper and had a breakout season in 2022.

With Tart officially locked in for the 2023 season at $4,304,000, Tennessee is now left with just under $8 million ($7,992,260) in remaining cap space. Only seven teams around the league have less money available (via OverTheCap.com).

Thanks to Bud Dupree and Julio Jones among others, over $36 million of Tennessee's current cap spending is in dead money, that's the seventh highest total in the league. Surprisingly, the Cincinnati Bengals have the least dead money in the NFL at just $593,044.

The good news? The Titans will gave a lot of their current cap allocations coming off the books next offseason. As of right now, Tennessee is projected to have $93,807,953 in cap space next offseason. Only Chicago, Houston, and New England are on pace to have more.
