When the NFL schedule first drops, most people look for primetime matchups, Week 1 opponents, their favorites team's bye week, or when they need to plan their vacation in order to hit a road game. But that are certain nuances to every schedule that could have a major impact on NFL teams.

Strength of schedule is often a reflection of the previous records of a team's opponents for that season. While that is certainly the main factor into assessing schedule strength, sometimes the small details can give a team an edge.

The Tennessee Titans will have an interesting advantage over many of their opponents in 2023 when it comes to preparation and rest that they did not have in the underwhelming 2022 season.

At no point during the 2023 season will the Titans play an opponent that is coming off their bye week. They will also not play any opponents coming off the mini-bye (when a team plays on Thursday Night Football the week prior).

In fact, there is only one game on the entire schedule when Tennessee’s opponent will have more rest than them. In Week 15, the Titans will be coming off of a Monday Night Football game in Miami prior to their Sunday afternoon game against the Houston Texans, who will have an extra day of rest.

The Titans did not have this same luxury in 2022. Tennessee played four times in 2022 behind on rest from their opponents and they played two teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos, that were coming off of a bye week.

From 2018-2021, Mike Vrabel’s Titans were 8-0 after having eight or more days of rest. Hopefully the edge his team gets in that department can translate to more wins and a turnaround season in 2023.
