There is a lot of excitement around the rookie quarterback for the Tennessee Titans. Malik Willis is a really exciting, athletic QB with plenty of upside. You can tell that he has every tool in the toolbox. Titans' star safety Kevin Byard had quite the comparison for Willis. He mentioned him in the same breath as Steve McNair.
Of course, those type of expectations are unfair for Willis. He and McNair do share some similar tendencies and traits, but McNair is arguably the greatest QB in franchise history.
Willis showed some impressive flashes in the preseason, and he could be the starting QB for the Titans in the coming years. For now, Ryan Tannehill is still the signal-caller for the Titans.
Byard showing love for Willis isn't surprising, though. Players and coaches have raved about his mindset and physical ability throughout the offseason. Those pieces to his game were the reasons that many thought he may go in the first round of this year's draft. The Titans waited and struck for Willis when necessary.
It will be a long way to go for Willis in order to even begin to fill similar shoes to McNair, but one star for the Titans has a lot of confidence in him.
