With less than two weeks remaining until the NFL's November 1st trade deadline, rumors are swirling around every team in the league, and Tennessee Titans fans are hopeful that their team will make a move.
Despite holding a 3-2 record and holding the top spot in the AFC South entering Week 7, the Titans roster has a couple clear flaws that could prove fatal down the stretch. Offensive line and wide receiver being the most obvious.
Titans fans want Jon Robinson and the front office to be aggressive and add some pieces at the trade deadline. They are holding out hope that the team will not be content with standing pat, and will make a push to contend once again.
A recent article from ESPN's senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler suggested the Titans may actually be involved at the trade deadline after all. The deal mentioned, however, is not the one Titans fans are probably hoping for.
Fowler's article, described as "a notebook stocked with what he's hearing on potential deals across the league," suggested that veteran tight end Austin Hooper could be on the move. Here's an excerpt from Fowler's article where he goes over "three TEs to watch":
"Tennessee Titans tight end Austin Hooper is a name to keep an eye on. He has been targeted 11 times in five games. Hooper is 27 and playing on a minimum salary of $1.12 million, with much of his $6 million deal paid out in a signing bonus."

After signing Hooper to a 1-year, $6 Million deal this offseason, the expectation was for Hooper to be an instrumental piece of the Titans offense and get back to the pass catching production he had in Atlanta.
Even with other big-time weapons missing time (Burks, McMath, Philips, etc.) Hooper has been non-existent in the offense in 2022. Through five games, he has just six catches for 55 receiving yards.
To make matters worse, he hasn't even been great as a blocker in the running game or pass protection. The Titans have opted to give a heavy majority of snaps to Geoff Swaim, identifying him as "the team's best blocking tight end," and even Swaim has more catches on the year (7), while also scoring a touchdown in Week 3 against the Raiders.
This trade rumor jumps out as surprising when you first read it, but after more thought, it may no shock me at all to see Tennessee move on, especially if they could get anything of slight value in return.
Yes, the Titans still have needs to address at WR and OL, but with rookie TE Chig Okonkwo turning a corner as a vertical threat in the offense and Swaim as an established protector, I have a hard time seeing what Hooper brings to this offense that they don't already have.
I was super complimentary and excited about Hooper entering the season, but to this point, I just haven't seen the production, and you can only wait so long.
Maybe he's better suited somewhere else.
