The Tennessee Titans are doubling down on what has previously been an effective offseason strategy ahead of the 2023 regular season.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell announced that Minnesota will be hosting joint practices with the Titans in the week leading up to their preseason showdown scheduled to take place on Aug. 19.

This news comes after ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has plans to discuss a joint practice with the Titans ahead of the preseason finale set for Aug. 25.

Tennessee held joint practices with the Arizona Cardinals and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in training camp last season. These practices afford the Titans with critical litmus tests to give the coaching staff a better idea at how different position groups stack up with the regular season right around the corner.

The Vikings present a unique challenge, especially when it comes to the matchup between Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and the rest of Minnesota’s pass-catchers versus the Titans’ secondary.

The Titans must take full advantage of these practices as they will square off against potent wide receivers in the first four weeks of the regular season (Saints, Chargers, Browns and Bengals). Head coach Mike Vrabel will use this period to make sure his team is ready to hit the ground running when Week 1 rolls around.
