NASHVILLE — As first reported by Tom Pelissero, the Tennessee Titans are hosting former Texas Longhorns defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat for a visit on Monday in Nashville.
Sweat is one of the top defensive prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, but has some red flags after he was arrested this weekend on suspicion of DWI.
Sweat posted bond to continue with his pre-draft tour. He is scheduled to meet with the Seattle Seahawks later in the week.
Sweat is one of my favorite talents in the 2024 draft class. He was the talk of the town in Mobile during the Reese's Senior Bowl, where I had the chance to speak with him and watch him play.
In size alone, Sweat stands out. He is 6-foot-4 and 366 pounds. He is ridiculously strong and plays with good leverage. His presence on the interior defensive line powered the Longhorns to being a Top 15 scoring defense and helped him become an unanimous All-American and Outland Trophy winner in 2023.
For a 366-pound human, Sweat's footwork is outstanding and allows him to plug holes in the run game. He has a motor, and is well-conditioned. He is not afraid to run down a ball-carrier on the other side of the field.
Pairing Sweat with Jeffery Simmons on the Titans' defensive line is something I can get behind. Most analysts believe Sweat is going to come off the board somewhere in Round 2, so you're likely looking at Tennessee using the 38th overall pick to get him barring a trade. The Titans do not have a third-round pick.
The biggest question now: How concerned should teams be with Sweat's arrest? I think bringing him in for a Top 30 visit is a great way to get that answer.
Dominant draft prospect could help Titans replace recently lost playmaker
He’d be so good for the Titans defense.
