On Monday, the Tennessee Titans waived a defensive back that had been trending in the right direction during training camp.
Former Michigan State standout Shakur Brown was one of four players waived by Tennessee on Monday.
Brown was waived with an injury designation.
Brown was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers after the 2021 NFL Draft. The Detroit native also spent with the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions last season.
Earlier this spring, Brown signed with the USFL's Pittsburgh Maulers.
Brown showed a lot of promise during training camp with the Titans. He was working at cornerback with the second-team defense which would usually mean a 53-man roster spot is likely.
He had also received quite a bit of praise from Titans coaches, including Mike Vrabel.
Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen has also had positive things to say about Brown.
Unfortunately, Brown suffered an injury which ultimately led to his release.
The Titans could still use some depth at cornerback. But with all the other NFL teams also cutting rosters down, there's a good chance that Tennessee will be able to find a cornerback who can provide some quality depth.
