The Tennessee Vols were without one of the best players on Friday night as they took on Alabama State in the Knoxville Regional.

Before the game, it was announced that catcher Evan Russell would not be available for the game. Redshirt freshman Charlie Taylor started in Russell's place.

Fortunately for the Vols, the absence of Russell didn't slow down Tennessee's offense. The Vols slugged their way to a 10-0 win behind five home runs.

Tennessee will take on Campbell on Saturday at 7:00 PM ET.

After the game, Vols head coach Tony Vitello commented on Russell's absence.

"I'll have to get back with the Doctor," said Vitello. "Obviously, Evan was not here. He was sick this morning. I got a message from him."

Russell is not expected to be available for the game against Campbell on Saturday.
