It's official. One of the most coveted quarterback recruits in the entire 2025 recruiting class will be announcing his commitment Thursday, April 4th. Matt Zollers, the consensus number five quarterback in the nation according to On3 Sports is currently making final preparations as he will be choosing his college football program tomorrow.
According Tom Loy of 247 Sports, Zollers has "been keeping things close to the vest" with his recruiting. Apparently even as of this writing Zollers hasn't decided which school he's going to choose. More from Loy on Zollers' decision:
"Him and his parents are going to spend this evening, really nail it down, figure out what he wants to do, and then make a decision. [He'll] call the staffs. He's very much about respect, and he wants to call every school involved and let them know."

Georgia Could Be Favorite to Win Matt Zollers
Kirby Smart and Georgia may not officially be "in the lead" for Zollers, but if they aren't they're certainly close. Zollers has visited with Georgia twice in just the last 60 days or so, the latest visit coming this past Tuesday. Georgia does return Carson Beck this season, but the starting quarterback job looks like a wide open competition after he departs next spring. An opportunity for Zollers to play for a back-to-back College Football Playoff champion program with a proven stable coaching staff may win the day.
Other Top Programs in Mix for Zollers
If Georgia doesn't pull off the recruiting win, there are certainly four other programs who look like they could do it.
Alabama just had Zollers in for a last minute visit on Monday, the day before he took a visit to Georgia. Kalen DeBoer has been stacking four and five star visits back to back to back over the past few weeks, clearly attempting to build some momentum. The Crimson Tide do not have a quarterback commit lined up for 2025 just yet. So, Zollers could become the face of the second phase of the Alabama dynasty if he chooses to go to Tuscaloosa.
Missouri has reportedly been trying an "all-in" kind of approach with Zollers, basically going after only him this cycle, whereas Georgia and Alabama have multiple options they're pursuing. Zollers has seen the Tigers twice in the last 60 days too, and they seem firmly in the mix thanks to their dedication to him specifically.
If he doesn't choose one of the SEC schools, the two Pennsylvania programs (where he's from) might be where he lands. Penn State is the clear leader over Pittsburgh, having logged a whopping seven visits with Zollers. The Nittany Lions are clearly looking for their post-Drew Allar plan, having offered 20 different quarterbacks in the 2025 class. But will that perceived indifference to the quarterback they land and lack of commitment to an in-state talent like Zollers be their downfall?
We'll find out tomorrow.
