The Tennessee Titans have been aggressive with their own roster to begin this off-season.
It's a positive for general manager Ran Carthon's first off-season with the organization. In a sense, he is moving off of players that simply aren't worth their buck anymore.
They are extremely tough decisions for the Titans, but they make the most sense for the outlook of the team.
Most notably, the Titans cut OT Taylor Lewan, LB Zach Cunningham, and WR Robert Woods. Tennessee also released kicker Randy Bullock.
The moves were quite necessary if the Titans wanted to begin to create cap space flexibility. They've done exactly that in under the last 48 hours.
As of yesterday morning, the Titans were over $25 million over the salary cap. Now, Tennessee is just over $4 million under the cap.
It's just the beginning of an off-season that will see plenty of change in Nashville. Some notable veterans have and will say goodbye, and young players will need to step up.
Not to mention, the latest moves have only costed the Titans $3.2 million in dead money. Accordingly, the decisions haven't been short or long-term hinderances to the team's cap situation.
Ran Carthon has absolutely made the correct moves to open his career with the Titans.
