Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel jokingly had a suggestion for the College Football Playoff earlier this year that went viral on Monday night after Georgia demolished TCU 65-7 in the national championship game.

Heupel appeared on the popular "Bussin with the Boys" podcast in April and he was asked by free agent linebacker Will Compton, who co-hosts the show with Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan, what his perfect College Football Playoff scenario would be.

Without missing a beat, Heupel said he'd let the top four SEC teams battle it out in the playoff.

Heupel's response immediately drew laughter from Compton and Lewan, who played at Nebraska and Michigan, respectively.

Lewan called the suggestion "ridiculous" which led to a laughing Heupel saying "is it really?"

Check out the hilarious clip:

Heupel was of course joking. And after the playoff expands to 12 teams in a couple of years, Heupel's suggestion won't matter.

But I can't help but wonder after Georgia beat TCU by 58 points how Tennessee or Alabama would've fared on a neutral field against the Bulldogs.

I don't think anyone was beating Georgia the way they played on Monday night, but I'm pretty confident that Tennessee and Alabama would've given the nation a better game to watch than we saw from TCU.

We already saw the Vols lose by just 14 points to Georgia in Athens in front of probably the best crowd Sanford Stadium has ever seen. You have to imagine they'd at least fare similarly on a neutral field in Los Angeles — even without Hendon Hooker at quarterback (Joe Milton handled business without many issues against a really good Clemson defense in the Orange Bowl).

Unfortunately, we'll never know. All we know for sure is that TCU is nowhere close to being in the same league as Georgia.
