Vols HC Josh Heupel makes exciting comment about Tennessee's wide receivers ahead of 2023 season

If there's one concern that Tennessee Vols fans have about Josh Heupel's potent up-tempo offense, it's that other programs will eventually figure out a way to stop it.
One reason why that shouldn't be a concern is because Tennessee's offense is always evolving based on personnel.
The crux of Tennessee's offense (playing fast and spreading the defense out) won't be changing in 2023.
But the way the Vols use their wide receivers could be changing — thanks to the versatility that this year's group has shown — which will allow Heupel and offensive coordinator Joey Halzle to throw some different looks at defenses this fall.
While discussing wide receiver Dont'e Thornton, who transferred to Tennessee from Oregon earlier this offseason, Heupel pointed out that UT's wide receivers can do "more things" in the offense this season than they did in previous years.
“Dont’e’s got the ability to play both (slot and outside)," said Heupel on Thursday after Tennessee's first fall scrimmage. "And I think for us this year, we probably have a little bit more mobility. Guys that can do multiple things within the offense than probably how we’ve played them the first couple of years that I’ve been here.”
Heupel isn't a coach that's found lightning in a bottle the past couple of years. He just simply knows how to put players in the best position for success.
As Paul Finebaum said earlier this summer, Heupel is an offensive genius that's the best play caller in the nation.
And the scary thing for the rest of college football is that Heupel didn't even have a fully stocked roster during his first two seasons on Rocky Top. The Vols' offense is only to become more dangerous as more highly rated recruits arrive in Knoxville.
