The Tennessee Vols are just two weeks away from a showdown with the Clemson Tigers in the Orange Bowl in Miami.

If Tennessee takes down Clemson, it'll give the Vols their 11th win of the season. It would be the first time since 2001 that Tennessee's got to 11 wins.

Beating Clemson, however, will be a challenge. The Tigers looked like a different team with true freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik under center in Clemson's win against North Carolina in the ACC Championship game earlier this month.

Combine the emergence of Klubnik with Tennessee not having Hendon Hooker, Jalin Hyatt, and Cedric Tillman and it's easy to see why some Vols fans are nervous about this game.

USA Today predicts who wins the Orange Bowl

USA Today's panel of six sportswriters predicted the winner of each bowl game this week.

Here's the panel:

  • Scooby Axson
  • Jace Evans
  • Paul Myerberg
  • Erick Smith
  • Eddie Timanus
  • Dan Wolken

All six panelists picked Clemson to beat Tennessee in the Orange Bowl.

Vols fans won't love the predictions — and I'm not 100 percent sure I agree with the USA Today's panelists — but I can understand why they made this pick.

Clemson looks like a much better team with Klubnik starting.

Tennessee, however, has Joe Milton starting in place of Hooker, who tore his ACL against South Carolina.

There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding Milton. He has to prove that he can be more consistent and accurate after struggling early last season as UT's starter. Plus there's no Hyatt or Tillman for the Vols, which could impact the effectiveness of Tennessee's offense.

Fortunately for the Vols, these predictions don't mean anything. If anything, it should give Tennessee some added motivation.
