Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt had a message for defenses in the SEC after UT's 40-13 shellacking of the LSU Tigers on Sunday.
Hyatt's message?
If teams play man coverage, the Vols are going to take it as disrespect.
"We wanted to see if they (LSU) were going to be a drop eight team or if they were going to come out there in man and say their guys are better than our guys," said Hyatt. "Just in the receiver room, we take that [as] disrespectful — especially in this offense."
You have to love that confidence if you're a Vols fan.
And by the way, he's right. Here's what happened when LSU tried to play man coverage.
Hyatt and the rest of Tennessee's wide receivers have played at a high level this season. And when teams play man coverage, the Vols usually burn the defense for six points (or a big gain).
Tennessee's offense, in general, is playing at an extremely high level right now (including the running game). I can't imagine any team — not even Alabama or Georgia — being thrilled to have to play the Vols.
