The Tennessee Vols' biggest remaining 2025 recruiting target is five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr.

Sanders, 6-foot-6/270 lbs from Charlotte, NC, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

The Charlotte native took an unofficial visit to Tennessee this past weekend ahead of several official visits that he has planned for late May/June (Sanders will return to Tennessee in mid June for an official visit).

Sanders is still considering Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

The highly coveted offensive lineman told On3's Steve Wiltfong this week that everyone's "on an equal playing field", though he acknowledged that if a program "knocks it out in June", then he'll make his decision right there in June.

When it comes to the Vols, Sanders loves the way the Tennessee staff communicates. In fact, he told Wiltfong that the Vols do the best job of staying in contact with him and his family.

"They (Tennessee) do a great job with that personal connection," said Sanders. "I think out of anybody, they do the best job calling, texting, just staying in contact with my parents and building that relationship. I just feel like you can be yourself at Tennessee, there’s nothing you have to do differently, even though it’s a big SEC school that wins a lot of games and is in contention for winning national championships year in and year out, that’s a place you can go and freely be yourself."

Sanders has said numerous times that relationships — between him and the program and between his parents and the program — will be an important factor in his decision.

There isn't an official leader in this recruiting battle, but it certainly sounds positive for the Vols as Sanders inches closer to a decision.
