One of the Tennessee Vols' top 2026 recruiting targets is five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys.

Keys, 6-foot-2/175 lbs from Hattiesburg, MS, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 4 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class. He's the kind of player that could be a Pro Bowl talent in the NFL.

On3's Chad Simmons made a "way-too-early" prediction" last month for Tennessee to land a commitment from Keys, but there's still a lot of time left in this recruiting battle, which means plenty can change.

Speaking of how much time is left in this battle, Keys spoke to SI.com this week and he noted that he hopes to announce his commitment "sometime in August".

Keys also confirmed that he plans to take an official visit to Tennessee before announcing his commitment. He also plans to return to Tennessee for one of the Volunteers' junior days.

"I know I will take officials to Texas A&M, Bama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Nebraska," said Keys to SI.com. "That is it for now. I want to build more connections and get to the schools recruiting me the hardest. I feel that 10 officials are too many, I might take five to eight, or five to seven. Maybe it’ll only be five officials this summer. I may take some officials during the season – however that works out.”

The competition for Keys is expected to be fierce. Tennessee is in a good spot for the talented wide receiver, but other programs are going to do all they can to land Keys. Ohio State is also lingering in the background as a possibility.
