Texas Longhorns true freshman quarterback Arch Manning spoke with the media on Saturday ahead of his team's showdown with Washington in the Sugar Bowl (Monday at 8:45 PM ET).

It was Manning's first time meeting with reporters since joining the Texas football program a year ago. Manning spoke with the media for about 15 minutes, answering questions that ranged from the recruiting process to NIL deals to his famous uncles, Peyton and Eli.

When it comes to Peyton and Eli, Arch was specifically asked how often he talks to his uncles and what kind of advice they have to offer.

"They've been great to me," said Arch when asked about Peyton and Eli. "Obviously, I can reach out whenever — they're pretty busy. They're still staying in the media [with] Monday Night Football. But they've been good. They don't overstep. Whenever I want advice, I can go to them. We have a really good relationship."

"They kind of stay out of business, they don't want to overstep," added Arch when asked how often he speaks with his uncles. "I can talk to them whenever I want."

Arch also added that he checks out the ManningCast on Monday Night Football from time to time.

"I watch it sometimes," said Arch. "They are funny, they're good guys."

That's probably the answer that everyone expected when it comes to Arch's relationship with Peyton and Eli. In typical Manning fashion, they're not trying to overstep and offer unsolicited advice. But they're also just a phone call away whenever Arch needs some advice (Arch noted, for example, that Peyton and Eli told him to prepare the entire season as if he's the starter, despite serving as the third-string quarterback at Texas for most of the 2023 season).

With Maalik Murphy entering the transfer portal, Arch will serve as the backup quarterback in the Sugar Bowl, which is a College Football Playoff semifinal game. That means if starter Quinn Ewers has to leave for any reason, it will be Arch that takes over for the Longhorns.

The Sugar Bowl, by the way, is played in Arch's hometown of New Orleans — which offers the potential of an incredibly poetic moment for Arch if he has to replace Ewers on Monday night.
