Texas Longhorns true freshman quarterback Arch Manning, the nephew of Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning, finally made his college debut on Friday night against Texas Tech.
Manning, who was rated as a five-star recruit, led two drives for the Longhorns in their 57-7 win against the Red Raiders.
The New Orleans native completed 2-of-5 passes for 30 yards and zero touchdowns while rushing for seven yards (with a long of 12 yards). Manning's first drive ended in a turnover on downs. His second drive resulted in a 10-yard touchdown run by Tre Wisner.
Manning showed some nice instincts/field vision on his 12-yard scramble.
There's been some speculation that Manning could look to transfer this offseason with Quinn Ewers likely returning for another season. But I'd be surprised if Manning hit the transfer portal. The Manning family's style isn't to transfer after just one season. It's much more likely that he waits his turn and takes over as the Longhorns' starting quarterback in 2025.
