Arkansas Razorbacks running back Mike Washington gave the Tennessee Vols’ defense some bulletin board material this week.

Washington and the Razorbacks are set to take on the Volunteers on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville.

On Tuesday, Washington met with reporters, and he was asked about Tennessee’s defense.

Washington initially complimented the Vols before talking a little trash.

Arkansas running back Mike Washington says Tennessee’s defense has holes

Washington was quick to suggest on Tuesday that Tennessee’s defense has some “holes.”

“They have a great defense, but [there are] a lot of holes,” said Washington. “A lot of holes in their defense, so it’s going to be a fun game.”

Washington, who is in his first season at Arkansas after transferring from New Mexico State, has rushed for 393 yards and four touchdowns in 2025. He’s averaging 6.4 yards per carry.

Tennessee’s defense certainly hasn’t been elite so far this season — the Vols have the No. 103 scoring defense in the nation. But whether or not Washington’s comment is accurate doesn’t matter — it’s still trash talk that can be used as motivation by Tennessee’s defense.

Vols true freshman tight end Jack Van Dorselaer has already said that this week’s game against Arkansas is “a little bit more personal.” Washington’s comments should only intensify that sentiment for the Vols.
