The Tennessee Vols' offense only scored 23 points against the Oklahoma Sooners in UT's 25-15 win in Norman this past Saturday night (the Vols added two points via a safety).

Oklahoma fans aren't feeling too happy about the program after the tough home loss to Tennessee, but they can take solace in the fact that the Sooners' defense played well against the Vols' high-powered offense.

Former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, in fact, doesn't think any defense the rest of the season will have the same success against Tennessee's offense.

"Overall, I thought [Oklahoma's defense] was really good (against Tennessee)," said Stoops on Monday during an appearance on The Ref 1400. "I liked everything about it, the coverage, the run game. Again, I bet the rest of the year they're (UT) not held to 345 yards and 25 points."

Tennessee eschewed their high flying offense as the game unfolded due to the way the Vols' defense was playing and because of Oklahoma's solid defensive game plan.

After the game, Sooners head coach Brent Venables acknowledged that Tennessee went conservative on offense, though he also pointed out that Oklahoma's defense played extremely well early in the game.

"I recognize that Tennessee played a really tight, conservative game," said Venables during Sooners Football. "But the way we were playing in the first half, when it was an open playbook, I felt really good. It was going to be a big challenge, don't get me wrong, but our guys were playing lights out."

Tennessee may not have another offensive game this season that looks like the one against Oklahoma. But Vols fans should be thrilled to know that Tennessee can win a defensive slugfest/control the clock kind of game if they need to.
