CBS Sports' Jerry Palm, who is probably best known as one of the top "bracketology experts" in the sports media business, updated his bowl game projections after Week Six's college football action.
Palm first revealed his updated College Football Playoff projection. And despite the Texas Longhorns' loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Shootout on Saturday, Palm still has Texas in his playoff prediction.
The CBS Sports analyst has the Georgia Bulldogs as the No. 1 seed playing Texas. Palm then has the Michigan Wolverines as the No. 2 seed playing the Florida State Seminoles (predicted as the No. 3 seed).
As for the Tennessee Vols, Palm thinks they'll be playing in Jacksonville in December 29 in the Gator Bowl against the Louisville Cardinals.
Louisville knocked off the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday night.
If Palm's prediction comes true, it would mean that Tennessee would play against Jeff Brohm, who was reportedly nearly hired as the Vols' head coach in 2017 (Brohm was one of numerous candidates that was involved in Tennessee's infamous 2017 coaching search).
(Brohm took over as Louisville's head coach ahead of the 2023 season.)
The job eventually went to Jeremy Pruitt, who was Alabama's defensive coordinator at the time.
If the Vols play Louisville in the Gator Bowl, it would actually be the second meeting between Brohm and Tennessee in the last couple of years.
The Vols previously played against Brohm, when he was the head coach at Purdue, in the 2021 Music City Bowl. That game is most remembered for the Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright's touchdown in overtime that was erroneously deemed by the officials to be not a touchdown.
The blown call likely cost Tennessee the win (Purdue won 48-45).
While there's no doubt that Tennessee has their sights set higher than the Gator Bowl, I'm sure they wouldn't mind a shot at some revenge against Brohm — even if he's not at Purdue anymore.
