One of the reasons the upcoming Orange Bowl matchup between the Clemson Tigers and the Tennessee Vols is so intriguing is because of UT quarterback Joe Milton.
Milton will get the start against Clemson with Hendon Hooker out due to the ACL injury he suffered against South Carolina last month.
In Milton, the Vols have a quarterback with the physical ability to be one of the best players in the nation. Milton has a ridiculously strong arm and he has the size to run over linebackers and defensive backs. If he puts it all together, he has Heisman Trophy talent.
On Wednesday, Clemson defensive end KJ Henry was asked about Milton.
And Henry made it clear that Clemson views Milton as a problem.
"I feel I'm getting the sense that people are trying to sleep on this quarterback like he's not a starter and like he hasn't been playing big-time football his whole career," said Henry. "Joe is going to give us some fits."
The Orange Bowl could be Milton's coming out party. This could be the game where he finally puts it all together and becomes a dominant force in college football. The talent is certainly there. And it sounds like Clemson is well aware that Milton could be a major problem for the Tigers on Friday night if he can find some consistency.
