2027 five-star offensive tackle Kennedy Brown is set to attend the game between Tennessee and Georgia on Saturday in Neyland Stadium.
Brown, 6-foot-4/280 lbs from Humble, TX, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
The Vols face stiff competition in the battle for 5-star offensive lineman Kennedy Brown
It’s great for the Vols that they’re getting Brown on campus, but Tennessee faces an uphill fight in this recruiting battle.
The Texas Longhorns are viewed by many as the favorite for Brown. Clemson, Texas A&M, and Oregon, among others, are also in the mix.
Tennessee was one of the first programs to offer Brown, so this is a relationship the Vols have been working on for a while. This weekend, however, will be key in determining whether the Vols have a legitimate chance to win this battle. A win against Georgia in front of a rowdy Neyland Stadium crowd would certainly help Tennessee’s chances of landing Brown.
The good news for the Volunteers is that Brown, according to his mom Kumbia Lewis, is planning to visit to Tennessee again in the future.
“The excitement is truly around meeting the coaching staff,” said Lewis to On3. “We know that is a game day but we are hopeful that he might meet some of the players. As a parent my excitement happens when I get to hear about the program, see the school and hear about the football program. So I know there will be another visit in the books.”
Tennessee and Georgia are set to kick off at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday in what should be one of the best college football games of the weekend.
