The 2023 NFL Draft just wrapped up less than a week ago and there are already 2024 mock drafts popping up on the internet.
A lot will obviously change over the next year, but it's still always interesting to see how players are viewed ahead of the season.
The Tennessee Vols had five players selected in this year's draft and they could get close to that number (or maybe surpass it) in 2024.
An early 2024 mock draft from CBS Sports has a Tennessee player going in the first round for the second straight season (offensive tackle Darnell Wright went to the Chicago Bears with the No. 10 overall pick this past weekend).
CBS Sports predicts that Vols offensive guard Javontez Spraggins will be selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 30 overall pick.
From CBS Sports: Spraggins flashed last fall while we were watching Darnell Wright. If he can have a Wright-type leap over the summer he could make his way into the top-50 conversation.
Spraggins, a former three-star recruit, started every game at right guard for the Vols this past season and performed at an elite level against top competition.
The East Saint Louis, IL native didn't allow a sack or a quarterback hit against Alabama. Spraggins also helped shut down LSU's pass rush by not allowing a sack or even a quarterback pressure in Tennessee's win against the Tigers in Baton Rouge.
Spraggins has mostly played right guard for the Vols though he saw some action at left guard as a true freshman in 2020 (under the previous coaching staff). He'll likely need to build on his 2022 season to be considered as a first-round pick (especially as an interior offensive lineman), but Spraggins should at least be the next Vols offensive lineman that's an early-round selection.
